3. Memorial Park
The Presbyterian Church acquired the property from Amos Wickersham in 1775 to be used as a burial ground, school, and church. Initially, it served as a burial ground.
Some of those buried at the cemetery were among Danville’s earliest occupants. The families of those interred there were responsible for maintaining the cemetery, as is the case with many older ones.
The cemetery turned into a tangled mess of bushes and vines as a result of numerous families moving away or having their lines disappear.
The town planned to repair the cemetery and turn it into a park because it was in bad shape. In 1908, the corpses were dug up and removed. The community received land from Grove Presbyterian Church that was formally given for use as a park. Fundraising efforts were made in 1800 to build a monument in honor of civil war veterans.
On May 31st, 1909, a 73-foot stone obelisk honoring Civil War veterans was dedicated. It can be seen today. Since then, additional monuments honoring the First and Second World Wars, as well as the Vietnam War, have been added.
All the monuments honor the supreme sacrifice that locals have made for their country.
The gorgeous Grove Presbyterian Church is located just across Bloom Street from Memorial Park, which is usually a peaceful area to relax & enjoy the weather while admiring the grandeur of the enormous trees that were planted there.
There are routes throughout the park that honor our military personnel, adding a sense of reverence to the setting and providing opportunities to take in beautiful outdoor memorial art as well as summer concerts conducted there.

If you are not, you may just pass right by, In a way similar to what We did. After doing a rapid U-turn, the family was pleased with the thing we discovered.
There was what appeared to be a driving range with typical booths, a sand trap, a field for practicing iron shots, as well as a practice green to replicate various golfing conditions that was attractively varied, properly staffed, and stocked.
But mini-golf was the reason we came there. We were welcomed to a really engaging and properly maintained course after paying the fees for entrance and obtaining our balls & putters using the self-serve machine.

13. North Branch Canal Trail
This canal’s construction started in 1828. From 1831 before it was discontinued in 1901, it served as a significant shipping and transit route, replacing river travel, largely because the rail industry had made the canals irrelevant.
The canal at that time was a component of a state-wide network that moved food, people, and goods like farm products, lumber, brick, limestone, pig iron, and anthracite coal around the area.
The canal played a significant role in culture and daily life. It served as a connection between the already-existing river towns, transported people and products, and served as a key area for socializing, ice skating, and swimming.
A century has passed since the canal was last used, and few individuals are still alive who can recall the canal era’s end.
Although sometimes overgrown and deteriorated, the towpath infrastructure and historic canal between Danville & Bloomsburg are substantially still present.
Even in modern times, the canal is still recognizable as a straight waterway paralleled by an elevated towpath with sporadic features like locks, aqueducts, and stone retaining walls.
