For a start, keep the copper wires well away from your campsite to avoid any unforeseen complications. Now with the wire strippers, strip both ends of the copper wire carefully.

Also, avoid removing too much copper wire so that most of the cable is not left naked while still ensuring to leave most of it bare.

Step 4. Coil the ends of the copper wire using the pair of pliers

This step involves coiling one end of the copper wire around the copper rod.

Wrap the stripped wire tightly around the copper rod with the pliers, but try not to coil it in a way that it can easily come loose from the vibrations made when the generator is turned on.

And be sure to ensure that the connection is tight enough to ensure the safety of the camp generator for use.

Step 5. Attach the second end of the copper wire to the camping generator

To complete the whole grounding process, loosen the grounding bolt on the generator with your wrench (check the generator’s user manual to know where this component is found).

And while heating the shower bag, try as much as possible to keep it off the ground to prevent it from losing heat to the earth, except you plan on heating it on a rock surface where the rock absorbs heat from the sun and reflects on the solar bag.

Solar shower bags can be hung on a tree branch, with the solar absorbent surface facing the direction of the sun rays.

When showering with this method while camping, it’s essential to be mindful of how much water you use to lather up, as you will need to have some left to rinse off.

And never forget, to save the aqua-life, never jump into a lake or river when you’re all covered up in soap!

Instead of just disposing them when you are done camping, and letting it go to waste, you can leave it at a ranger station or sell it or even give it out to another camper.

You can also find campers that will be interested in getting some of these items from you on Facebook groups and various social media platforms.

But if you wish to carry a camping stove along with you on your journey, make sure that it is clean, with no fuel vapours or residue inside.

Safety matches are also allowed when flying with camping gear, but you will only be allowed a book of them, and you’d be required to carry them on you on the plane and not in your checked luggage.

Flashlights are not prohibited either when flying.

Trekking poles though maybe a bit confusing whether or not to carry along.

Most campers brag how they walk with their trekking pole with them pass TSA agents to the aeroplane, but this is not recommended.

Some TSA agents will stop you to make some checks.

Instead, put your trekking poles in your carry on bag. And if you are scared of them breaking, you can slide then into a PVC pipe and tape it at each end.

Knives are also allowed as a carry-on when flying, but make sure that they are properly sheathed or wrapped so as not to harm baggage handlers.

For the other camping gears that don’t violate the above listed, you can take them along with you while flying, but note that all carry-ons must be in your checked luggage.

This device converts up to 120V (AC) down to 12V (DC) for accessories and appliances in the RV to use.

And if the converter develops some issues, the onboard batteries will be your direct source of power, which would damage a lot of accessories and appliances in the RV.

In a situation like this, the best step to take would be to consider a more comprehensive and meticulous approach to solving the issue, which often entails inspecting various electrical components in the RV, as well as the RV converter itself.

How to Test an RV Converter’s Cooling Fan?

To do this, you will need to connect the entry points of the converter to a multimeter.

If the multimeter fails to read, it might just be that it’s the cooling fan that is faulty and not the converter itself.

It may also be that the 110V line, or that the thermostat or thermal sensor is faulty.

To test if all these are working, supply a current different from the 110V line to them, if they work, then you can conclude that the problem is in the 110V line.

But if they don’t, you may have to replace the thermal sensor, the cooling fan itself, or even the converter as a whole.

2. A Faulty Circuit Breaker or Board

Yes, a faulty circuit breaker can affect an RV converter and prevent it from functioning well.

To check if the circuit breaker is faulty or not, first open each of the circuit breakers, starting with the primary input breaker and check for any signs of physical degradation.

If the breakers show no sign of a fault, close them up in reverse order, making sure that the primary input breaker comes last.

Now, try to disconnect the 110 AC power supply from the pedestal and remove each electrical panel from it.

Take a careful look at the backside because acid may tend to accumulate on a connector tab or the wire terminals.

If you notice any sign of corrosion on the connector tab, try to clean it up by mixing one teaspoon of baking soda with 12 ounces of water.

Then use a soft-bristled toothbrush to scrub lightly with the improvised baking soda solution on the affected area.

When all this is done, make sure to leave it to air dry for about 7 to 10 minutes completely. And if all these, the RV converter fails to work, switch to the next alternative.

3. Faulty Resistors or Diodes

Some RV converters still make use of the old fashioned designs of diodes and resistors.

Resistors in an RV converter help to control the 12V DV voltage of the electrical system and onboard batteries. And something as simple as a faulty resistor can prevent the cells from being able to hold a constant charge.

Diodes are quite different from resistors in the sense that they allow an electric current to flow in only one direction, and at the same time prevent current flow in the other direction.

Before testing either of the resistors or diodes, first ensure that you understand the direction of the current flow. And if when testing the diodes with your multimeter, you get a reading, then that diode is still working.

The same applies to the resistors too!

One physical sign you can notice on a bad resistor or diode is a white acidic residue on the converter near the diode or resistor.

If the damage is so severe, you will need to replace the entire RV converter, but if resistors and diodes aren’t the problem, proceed to the next alternative.

4. A Faulty Fuse

Electrical fuses are rated to handle a specified maximum level of current that it was designed for. Once there is something like a power surge or a short circuit, the fuse might burn out to prevent excess current from damaging the main electrical equipment (RV converter).

Check for and replace any burned-out fuses with ones that are of the same current rating.

Making use of fuses with a higher amp rating is likely to damage more sensitive components of your RV’s electrical system, including the RV converter itself.

Note that the bubble spot is where the boiling fluid rises through the tube, splashing against the walls inside.

1. Fill the Percolator Pot with Water

When filling the camping percolator pot, don’t overfill it; instead, just a couple of cups will do to avoid causing a hot mess on your hands.

2. Add Coffee into the Percolator

You will need to buy filters that fit the basket of the percolator when adding the coffee grounds into the percolator. This is required, especially if you are using regular ground coffee.

But you may not need the filters if you are making use of fresh coarsely ground coffee.

Being a true lover of recreational vehicles, you must be already aware of how important it is to learn how to prime RV water pump.

As you may already know, every RV water pump tends to run out of pressure and malfunctions if not handled for a long time, especially during winter.

Priming an RV water pump is one way you can use to get the pump going once again.

It entails flushing back into the RV water pump, then forcing through as a means to stimulate more pressure in the pump. The pressure is stimulated until the pump can start pumping again.

Priming an RV’s water pump is not difficult in any way, the challenging part lies in trying to access the pump.

RV water pumps are usually located beneath the bench seats or in the RV’s cabinets so it can be close to the water tank.

If you don’t find it there, open the cabinet underneath the kitchen sink of the RV and trace the water line to where you see the water pump.

• Flathead screwdrivers

1. Disconnect the Line of the Water Outlet from the RV Water Pump

This is usually done by turning the screw found on the attaching collar counterclockwise until you notice it’s loose enough to pull off the hose easily.

If you are unfamiliar with where the outline is; the outline is that clear plastic line that comes out of the RV water pump and goes back into the RV to feed showers, sinks, and toilets.

2. Slipping the Collar Off from the Outlet Line

The next step to take when learning how to prime RV water pump is to slip the collar off from the outlet line to the end of the rubber hose.

Then look for the specific outlet that spouts on the RV water pump.

Now connect the rubber hose to the outlet by screwing the clampdown. Make sure that the rubber hose is of the same size as the waterline and is long enough to extend out from beneath or behind the exact spot of the water pump.

3. Filling the Jar with Water

Prepare about 12 ounces of water (about a soda bottle full) and use it to fill a jar.

When this is done, hold the hose which you connected to the outlet up in the air in a way that it is above the water pump’s level.

Now pour the water from the jar into the hose.

Place your thumb over the hose to build up pressure for some minutes, then turn on the water pump.

Once you feel the water against your thumb, turn off the pump.

4. Taking the Hose Out of the Pump

After taking the hose out of the pump, reconnect the water line again, open one of the faucets installed in the RV and turn the water pump on.

Once you notice water coming out the faucet after a few seconds, close the faucet and turn the pump off.

A successfully primed RV water pump is one that has water coming out of the faucet after all these processes stated above.

What Not to Do When Priming RV Water Pump
